Age of Conan: What’s with the horrible community?

I’m not sure if it is just the Tryanny (PVP) server that I’ve chosen to make my character on (due to being the most populated, was my first choice) or if AoC really does bring the worst MMO community with its mature rating. The Tyranny global chat makes Barrens chat look like pre-school. Despite WoW having an overall kiddie community, the chat usually stays somewhat clean and although it is derailed a lot, it at least never distracted me enough from the game to the point that it totally pulls me out of the immersion. Sure I could just leave the chat channel or close the chat box, but the damage has been done!

I didn’t take any screens specifically of the immaturity I was witnessing, but browsing through the screens I did take, wouldn’t you know there is some examples of the type of trash I had to read.

Besides what appears to just be a server with a majority of rotten apples, I’ve been enjoying my AoC time the last two nights. I’ll probably give the RP-PVP server Cimmeria a try tomorrow at the LAN with my buddy Zack, as people say it’s the second most populated anyways, and was the “first to have a lvl 5 pvp,” which means god knows what, but it sounds like serious business.

Praise Mitra! Huge Age of Conan patch 02/18

Pretty good timing for me to give Age of Conan a shot, as a pretty massive content patch has dropped today, coming in at 1.24GB for me. It mainly has level 40+ content, but it’s still exciting nonetheless. Bug fixes are always fun as well.

NEW DUNGEONS

• Cradle of Decay is a level 43 group instance which can be accessed through the Field of the Dead.
• The Slaughterhouse Cellar is a level 80 single player instance located in Thunder River just south of the palisades area.
• Xibaluku is a level 80 group instance located in Thunder River on the prison island. There is a quest pre-requisite to enter this area. You can begin this quest by speaking to General Lupercus in Thunder River. (This quest will send you into the The Slaughterhouse Cellar to obtain items).
• Black Ring Citadel, Wing 3 is a level 80 raid instance that can now be accessed from Kheshatta between the entrances to Wing 1 and Wing 2.

Installing: Age of Conan

Don’t jump to any conclusions, I just got a hold of a buddy key and figured I’d give it a shot.

I haven’t played it since I’ve downgraded my video card (GTX 280 -> 9800gt), so I’m not quite sure what to expect. If it’s running choppy, you can bet your ass I’ll be pretty much done with it tonight.I’m curious, but as someone who is pretty dang anal-retentive about game performance, I’m not in the position to deal with how it’s running, when I’m not even sold on the game yet, haven’t been since beta.
